Location

La Ferme Gautre resides in the quiet rural hamlet of Les Touches, within the Commune of Vallans, and is about 17 km south west of Niort. Vallans has a baker's shop, supplying fresh bread and pastries.

The adjacent commune of Frontenay Rohan-Rohan, is much larger and has banks, a supermarket and other shops.

Niort is a major town and has all the facilities you may require, plus a TGV connection to Paris. It is well placed as a centre of the road network for exploring the whole Poitou-Charentes region, as well as being a historic town in its own right. It has a renowned fresh food market, shops, boutiques and gourmet restaurants servicing the local residential and business community. Golf is available in the surrounding area.

To the west, and only 40 minutes drive away, is the historic port of La Rochelle and, just beyond, Ile de Re with its beautiful coastline. A similar distance to the east takes you to Poitiers, the historic capital city of the Poitou Charentes, with the Futuroscope science park just outside the city.

To the south near Royan is Europe's largest zoo, La Palmyre, where children can feed giraffes and elephants.

La Ferme Gautre is set about 10km from the main Paris-Bordeax A10 Autoroute which opens up Tours and the Loire Valley to the north and Bordeaux to the south. Cognac is about 65km.
